Mayor Watts is committed to keeping Welaka safe and secure. He has taken swift action working closely with the Chief of Police to ensure the Town's Police Department is properly equipped, acquiring new patrol vehicles and equipment through state grants. Mayor Watts also understands the importance of supporting law enforcement and preventing crime, a mindset he inherited from his great-grandfather, who served as a police officer in Chattanooga until his death in 1940 while on duty. His son continues this legacy today, working as a deputy sheriff and National Guard member. Mayor Watts' commitment to public safety shows his dedication to making Welaka a safe and secure place for its citizens.
